the Rocky Mountain Region including New Mexico, Colorado,
Wyoming, and Utah. The Chapter provides information and assistance
in dealing with Huntington's Disease (HD) related issues for
affected HD individuals, families, caregivers, friends, and
the healthcare community.
HDSA Rocky Mountain Chapter maintains a Helpline staffed
by a professional Social Worker to provide information on
care giving issues, genetic testing information, support group
activities, physical, emotional and psychological symptoms
and suggested courses of action.
The HDSA Center of Excellence is a partnership between The
Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA) and the Colorado
Neurological Institute (CNI) designed to provide a regional
hub of comprehensive, state of the art services for individuals
with Huntington's disease (HD) and their families.
While working with the HDSA Center of Excellence at Colorado
Neurological Institute the Social Worker is able to offer
social work support to families and patients who come to the
clinic. Follow up support with these families and patients
is available in terms of emotional support, i.e. short term
individual or family counseling, community resources, and
assistance in accessing services needed.
